Guide to Predictions for Viewers

Everything to know about Predictions for Viewers

Updated over 2 months ago

All streamers who have Channel Points enabled now have access to Predictions!

Predictions allow streamers (and their moderators!) to create interactive events for their streams to let viewers put their Channel Points on the line.

The predictions feature is available by default to any channel that has Channel Points enabled!

Where to participate

When a streamer or their moderator(s) start a prediction, there will be a couple of entry points to access the prediction:

  1. A banner on top of the chat will appear to indicate that a new prediction has started. Clicking "Predict" will open the prediction panel.

  2. Going through the Channel Points menu by clicking the Channel Points icon at the bottom of the chat (under the chat input field). The top of this menu will show the current ongoing prediction; clicking "Predict" will open the prediction panel.

How to predict

In the predictions panel, you'll be able to see a visual that shows the percentage split of the current prediction. Under that, the two outcomes and a field to commit your Channel Points.

💡 You can see information underneath each outcome such as total points entered, number of voters and the current return ratio. Note: the return ratio is based on the current votes which are subject to change. It does not guarantee final or exact figures.

Select the outcome you think will occur and enter the number of Channel Points you want to use. Make sure you have the correct outcome selected before you hit "Predict" — once you've confirmed, you won't be able to change your vote for the current prediction!

After voting, you can continue to commit Channel Points but only to your already selected outcome. You can participate as long as the voting period is open!

📢 You can use between 10 and 250,000 points to participate in predictions.

What happens after I've predicted?

Once the voting period has ended, the prediction will enter a closed state — no one will be able to place any more votes during this period.

Once the event has occurred, the streamer or moderator will select the correct outcome of the prediction.

If your prediction is correct, you will win a share of the Channel Points pool. This share is dynamic and depends on how many points were committed to each outcome.

If your prediction is incorrect, you will lose the Channel Points you used.

If the streamer or moderator doesn't select an outcome within 24 hours, all points will be refunded to their respective users.
