Understanding KICK's community guidelines

KICK is a creator-led platform that supports a wide range of content. Our Community Guidelines exist to make sure everyone — Streamers, Moderators, and Viewers — knows what is expected, so the platform stays safe, dynamic, and welcoming.

This article is a plain-language overview of the Guidelines, designed to help you understand what we do and do not permit, and why. For the full details, always refer to the official Community Guidelines.

How KICK approaches enforcement

KICK takes a context-based approach to moderation. Live streaming is unpredictable, and a one-size-fits-all approach does not work. When we review reports or potential violations, we consider factors such as:

  • The Streamer's intent

  • Their level of involvement in escalating a situation

  • Their reaction as events unfold

  • The outcome and impact of what was streamed

  • External influences and channel history

This means context matters for most situations. A creator who acts responsibly when something unexpected happens on stream will be treated differently from one who deliberately escalates or fails to address the issue.

⚠️ Zero-tolerance exceptions: Some categories of content carry such serious harm that context cannot mitigate enforcement. These include the protection of minors and the incitement of terrorism. In these areas, action will be taken regardless of the surrounding context.

What KICK supports

Before getting into the boundaries, it is worth being clear about what we actively support:

  • A wide range of creative content, including gaming, music, ASMR, art, IRL, gambling (where legally permitted), and more

  • Responsible freedom of expression

  • Open discussion of ideas, including challenging or controversial topics

  • Innovative and creative use of AI, with appropriate disclosure

  • Brand partnerships and sponsored content, with clear disclosure

  • Strong communities built on respect and engagement

Our Guidelines exist to protect this kind of content, not to limit it.

The 11 Community Guidelines

KICK's Community Guidelines cover 11 main themes. Here is a plain-language summary of each.

1. Sexual conduct

Suggestive themes are permitted in appropriate contexts, provided they involve consenting adults and are properly age-restricted with the 18+ label.

We do not permit pornography, full or partial nudity, excessively erotic depictions, or camera angles that emphasise sensitive areas. Sexual extortion is also strictly prohibited.

2. Protection of minors

This is a zero-tolerance area. KICK does not permit:

  • Any sexualisation, exploitation, or harm of minors

  • Any form of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM)

  • Content depicting minors being groomed, harmed, or involved in illegal activities

  • Unsupervised interactions with minors on randomised video chat platforms

  • Streams featuring minors without the knowledge and supervision of a parent or legal guardian

If you encounter someone you reasonably believe to be underage on a randomised video chat, you must disengage and skip immediately.

3. Violence

Extreme violence, graphic gore, and unwanted aggression that poses serious risk or causes significant harm is not permitted.

Context is considered. Violence in professional sporting events is treated very differently from content that promotes or normalises serious harm. Animal content is similarly assessed — regulated hunting and cultural practices are permitted, while abuse or unnecessary suffering is not.

4. Terrorism

This is a zero-tolerance area. KICK does not permit content that incites, promotes, or displays acts of terror or violent extremism. This includes radicalisation, recruitment, or propaganda on behalf of recognised terrorist organisations.

5. Hate speech

KICK values responsible freedom of expression and supports open dialogue. We do not permit hate speech that targets individuals or groups based on race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or other demographic identifiers. This includes content that plans, incites, or coordinates violent action against these groups.

Context is crucial here. Words that may be acceptable in some situations can take on a very different meaning in others. We assess intent, involvement, and whether the content crosses into coordinated harassment or calls for action.

6. Personal safety and self-harm

We do not permit content that promotes, encourages, or instructs acts that pose serious risk to personal safety. This includes self-harm, suicide, substance abuse, eating disorders, and reckless endangerment.

We also do not allow exploitation of personal distress for financial gain (such as soliciting subscriptions through emotional manipulation).

If you or someone you know is struggling, see Mental Health on KICK and our Crisis Resource List.

7. Integrity and authenticity

KICK is built on trust. We do not permit:

  • False or widely disproven misinformation that can cause real-world harm

  • Scams, chat spam, malicious links, fraudulent services

  • Misrepresentation of identity or affiliations

  • Bots, engagement manipulation, or third-party tools that artificially inflate views, followers, or interactions

  • AI-generated content that mimics reality without clear disclosure

  • Deepfakes or voice clones that mislead Viewers about real-world events or private individuals

  • Non-consensual intimate imagery (including AI-generated)

  • Unauthorised gaming hacks, cheats, or exploits in multiplayer games

If you use AI to generate realistic content during a stream, disclose it clearly through your stream title or an on-screen overlay.

If you believe your channel is being targeted by bots, contact [email protected] immediately.

8. Doxxing and privacy

Sharing the private personal information of another person without their consent is prohibited. This includes contact details, addresses, banking information, and any sensitive private data.

Commentating on other Streamers is allowed. Sharing their private contact details or sensitive information is not.

This also extends to technical privacy: do not deploy unauthorised scripts, fingerprinting technologies, or third-party tools to track other users off-platform.

9. Public safety, order, and disturbances

Avoid actions that cause significant public disruption or panic. This includes:

  • Pranks designed to incite fear

  • Conduct that triggers unnecessary involvement of emergency services (such as swatting)

  • Harassment or exploitation of unwilling participants when streaming in public

  • Dangerous driving or reckless operation of machinery

  • Any conduct that creates a serious risk of physical harm to bystanders

Enforcement here is proportionate to intent and the resulting risk of harm.

10. Lawfulness

Comply with all applicable local laws while streaming. This includes regulations on:

  • Copyright and intellectual property

  • Trespassing

  • Illicit substances

  • Public nuisance

  • Any activity that may endanger you or others

We may cooperate with authorities across jurisdictions when necessary. You are responsible for understanding the laws where you create content.

11. Gambling

Gambling content is permitted on KICK, but with strict rules:

  • Follow the gambling laws in your jurisdiction

  • Do not gamble using funds provided by other Viewers (no buy-ins from your audience)

  • Minors must never participate in gambling-related activities

  • Sponsored gambling is permitted only for licensed platforms in the relevant jurisdiction

  • Disclose affiliate links clearly — close to the link or audibly during the stream

  • Apply proper age-labelling and category selection

Additional standards

Beyond the 11 themes, a few additional standards apply:

Channel identity and presentation

  • Usernames and profile information must remain appropriate

  • Place streams in the most accurate category

  • Apply 18+ labels where appropriate

  • Use the "Branded Content" tool for paid partnerships

  • Use plain language like "Paid Promotion" — avoid vague terms like "Partner" or "Collab"

Stream management and tools

Channel owners are responsible for everything streamed on their channel, including:

  • Stream titles

  • Pinned messages and links

  • Emotes (whether created by you or your Moderators)

Indefinitely banned creators may briefly appear in your streams but should not be the prolonged focus.

Reporting and safety

Use the Report button when you see content that breaks our Guidelines. We take all reports seriously and review them thoroughly. You can also contact [email protected].

How enforcement works

Enforcement is proportionate to severity and frequency. Our primary goal is to work collaboratively with creators and support reformative outcomes where possible.

Possible enforcement actions include:

  • Warnings (in chat, by email, or post-stream)

  • Chat muting

  • Revocation of privileges

  • Added restrictions

  • Content removal

  • Temporary or indefinite account suspensions

  • Permanent account bans

Repeated violations result in increasingly severe enforcement. Channel suspension history (frequency and types of bans) influences future moderation decisions.

How to appeal

If your channel has been suspended and you wish to appeal, contact [email protected]. For details, see Suspension and ban appeals process.

Cooperation with authorities

KICK regularly engages with law enforcement and regulators through proactive notifications and responses to formal requests.
