Pinning your VODs

VODs (your stream replays) are automatically removed from your channel once their retention period runs out. Pinning lets you keep your most important streams on your channel for good, and it moves them to the top so they're the first thing people see when they visit your channel.

It's a handy option if you stream on and off, run one-off events, or take a break, because your channel always has something for viewers to watch instead of looking empty.

Pinning is rolling out on web and mobile web first, with the mobile app to follow.

Who can pin VODs

Pinning is available on Partner and Verified channels. You can pin up to 5 VODs at a time.

Where it's available

  • Pinning and unpinning: desktop and mobile web (mobile app to come)

  • Viewing pinned VODs on a channel: available across platforms

Where you can pin from

You can pin a VOD from any of these spots:

  • Channel > Home

  • Channel > Videos

  • Creator Dashboard > Studio > VODs

How to pin a VOD

  1. Head to any of the entry points above.

  2. Find the VOD you want to keep. Only VODs that are still within their retention window can be pinned.

  3. Tap Pin.

  4. The VOD is kept for good, jumps to the top of your VODs, and shows a pin icon.

Good to know: You can only pin a VOD before it expires. Once a VOD has been removed it can't be recovered. Only you can pin VODs on your own channel, so your moderators won't have this option.

How pinned VODs are ordered

Your channel shows content in this order:

  1. Your current livestream, if you're live

  2. Pinned VODs

  3. All your other VODs

When you reach your pin limit

If you already have 5 VODs pinned and try to pin another, you'll see a message letting you know that 5/5 VODs are pinned. To pin a new one, just unpin an existing VOD first.

Unpinning a VOD

  1. Find the pinned VOD and tap Unpin.

  2. A warning pops up letting you know the VOD will be permanently removed after 24 hours.

  3. Confirm. The pin icon disappears straight away, and the VOD is removed from your pinned order.

What happens next depends on whether the VOD has reached its original expiry date.

If the VOD hasn't reached its original expiry date yet, it stays on your channel and expires on that date like any other VOD. It's no longer permanently retained. The warning shows you the date before you confirm.

If the VOD is already past its original expiry date, pinning was the only thing keeping it. It's removed from your channel straight away and permanently deleted after 24 hours. You've got those 24 hours to restore it. After that, it's permanently deleted and can't be recovered.

Important: VODs you pinned before 29 September 2026 work differently. Unpinning one removes it permanently after 24 hours, even if it hasn't reached its original expiry date. The warning will tell you if this applies. If it says the VOD will be permanently deleted, it will be.

Good to know: If a VOD's original expiry is less than 24 hours away, unpinning gives you the full 24 hours rather than the shorter time left.

Making a pinned VOD private

If you want to take a pinned VOD off your channel without losing it, make it private instead of unpinning.

  1. Go to your pinned VODs.

  2. Select the VOD and choose Make private.

  3. It's hidden from viewers but still kept for good. You can make it public again whenever you like.

Good to know: A private pinned VOD still uses one of your 5 slots.

Understanding pin states

Here's a quick rundown of what each pin state means:

State

What it means

Pinned

Kept for good, shown at the top of your VODs with a pin icon.

Pinned (private)

Kept for good, shown at the top of your VODs with a pin icon that only you can see. It's hidden from viewers, and still counts toward your 5-pin limit.

Pinned (subscribers only)

Kept for good, shown at the top of your VODs with a pin icon visible to subscribers only, and still counts toward your 5-pin limit.

Unpinned (recoverable)

Removed from your channel, restorable for 24 hours if you re-pin it, then permanently deleted.
