Getting started with the KICK - Go Live app for Android

KICK - Go Live is our dedicated mobile streaming app for Android. It is designed for Creators who want to broadcast directly from their phone, perfect for IRL streams, on-the-go content, mobile gaming, or anywhere your desktop setup cannot follow.

This guide walks you through everything you need to know to download the app, set it up, and go live for the first time on Android.

What is KICK - Go Live?

KICK - Go Live is a standalone app, separate from the main KICK viewer app. It is focused entirely on mobile broadcasting and includes features like:

  • Dual-camera streaming, front and back camera at the same time, perfect for reaction content or IRL. Available on supported Android devices; not every device supports simultaneous front and back camera capture.

  • Screen sharing: stream what is on your phone screen directly to your channel.

  • Smart Streaming, automatically selects the best resolution, framerate, and bitrate for your network and your content, no manual configuration needed.

  • Stream from anywhere, no laptop or capture card required.

KICK - Go Live works for any KICK account. You do not need to be an Affiliate, Verified Creator, or Partner to use it.

Downloading the app

The app is available on Android.

Device requirements

To run KICK - Go Live, your Android device needs to be running Android 8.0 or later. If your device is older than this, the app may not install or function correctly.

Before your first stream

A few things to set up before you launch the app for the first time:

Grant camera and microphone permissions

When you first open KICK - Go Live, your phone will prompt you to allow access to your camera and microphone. Both must be granted to stream. Without them, the app cannot broadcast video or audio.

If you accidentally deny permissions, open Settings > Apps > KICK - Go Live > Permissions on your device.

Make sure your account is in good standing

The app uses your existing KICK account. If you have any pending issues with your account (suspensions, restrictions, etc.), resolve them before trying to stream.

Signing in

Open KICK - Go Live and sign in using your KICK credentials (the same email and password you use on kick.com). You can also use Google/Apple sign in.

If you have Two-Factor Authentication enabled, you will be prompted for your 2FA code during sign-in.

Checking your network

When you open KICK - Go Live, you'll briefly see a "Checking your network" message on screen. This is Smart Streaming measuring your connection and working out the best starting configuration for your stream. It only takes a moment, once it's done, you're taken to your stream setup screen.

Setting up your stream

Before you go live, set up your stream details inside the app. You can configure:

  • Stream title, what your stream is about.

  • Category, what content you are streaming (Just Chatting, a specific game, IRL, etc.).

  • Content labels, 18+ label and other classification labels where appropriate.

  • Stream quality, automatically selected by Smart Streaming based on your network and content, and shown at the top of the stream title box (see Settings and stream quality on the KICK - Go Live app for Android).

💡 Title, category, and labels can all be set from inside the app, there is no need to switch to kick.com on a browser. Smart Streaming takes care of your stream quality automatically.

For tips on writing strong titles and choosing the right category, see:

  • How to attract new Viewers: titles, presentation, and timing

  • Content classification labels: when to use them

Going live

Once your stream is set up:

  1. Tap the green circle button.

  2. Confirm your settings.

  3. Your stream is now live on your KICK channel.

You can begin streaming with your camera, swap to dual-camera mode (on supported devices), or share your screen at any point during your stream. For details on these features, see Dual-camera and screen sharing on the KICK - Go Live app for Android.

Once you’re live, you can check your current stream quality at any time in the Heads-Up Display (HUD) shown over your stream preview.

Watching chat from the app

While you are streaming, you can see your chat in real time within the app.

For most mobile Creators, this is fine, you can still acknowledge Chatters verbally during your stream, react to what they say, and engage with the community through voice. If you have a Moderator team, they can handle chat moderation actions on your behalf.

For more on building a Mod team, see How to Moderate Your KICK Chat.

After your stream ends

When you end your stream:

  • Your stream is automatically saved as a VOD on your channel, the same way desktop streams are.

  • Viewers can watch the VOD on your channel page on kick.com.

  • Your stream stats (Viewers, follows, subscriptions, etc.) are available in your Creator Dashboard.

For more on VODs, see KICK Stream Replays / VODs and My VOD is missing or not appearing.

What you cannot do in the app

A few things still need to be done on kick.com in a browser:

  • Respond to chat messages, chat is read-only in the app.

  • Manage Emotes, badges, and channel settings, these are configured on the web.

If you need any of these, log in to kick.com on a desktop or mobile browser.

Common questions

Do I need an Partnership or Verified status to use KICK - Go Live? No. Any KICK account can use the app to stream.

Can I stream from my phone and chat from my laptop at the same time? Yes. The app handles your streaming output, and you can keep kick.com open on another device to read and respond to chat.

Does my stream from the app save as a VOD? Yes. Streams from KICK - Go Live save as VODs the same way desktop streams do.

Can I use KICK - Go Live for mobile gameplay streaming? Yes, using the screen sharing feature. See Dual-camera and screen sharing on the KICK - Go Live app for Android for details. For game-specific guidance, see How to Stream Mobile Games to KICK.

Why can I not reply to chat from the app? Chat in the app is currently read-only. To reply to chat directly, use a desktop browser or a separate device with kick.com open.

Is there a desktop version of this app? No. KICK - Go Live is mobile-only. For desktop streaming, see How to Stream on KICK.com for OBS and Streamlabs setup.

Why don't I see the dual-camera option on my device? Dual-camera support depends on your Android device's hardware and manufacturer. If your device doesn't support simultaneous front and back camera capture, the option won't appear, you can still stream in single-camera mode.

Can I manually choose my resolution or bitrate? No. Stream quality on KICK - Go Live for Android is automatically managed by Smart Streaming, which selects the best resolution, framerate, and bitrate for your network and content. See Settings and stream quality on the KICK - Go Live app for Android for details.
