Getting started with Web Go Live

Web Go Live lets Streamers start a livestream directly from the KICK website, with scenes, widgets, audio/video controls, and animated shoutouts.

Web Go Live is a new web-based experience that lets Streamers start a livestream directly from the KICK web platform, making it easier to go live without relying on the existing setup flow.

What we're delivering

We're giving Web Go Live a dedicated, purpose-built experience that makes starting a stream from web simpler, clearer, and more accessible for Streamers.

The value

The value prop for Streamers: a faster and easier way to go live from web, reducing setup friction and helping more Streamers start streaming on KICK.

The Web Go Live starting flow

Here's a walkthrough of the flow, step by step.

Homepage

Streamers can kick off Web Go Live directly from the KICK homepage, without needing to navigate to a separate setup page.

Onboarding

First-time Streamers are guided through a short onboarding flow before they land on their stream dashboard.

Variation

Before going live, Streamers see their stream dashboard with an offline preview, plus panels for chat, mod actions, activity feed, and quick actions.

Permissions

To broadcast from the browser, Streamers need to grant camera and microphone access when prompted. Both must be allowed to go live from web.

Scenes

Streamers can switch between different scenes while live:

  • Scene + Widget — combine the camera feed with widgets on screen.

  • Preset: Back soon — a placeholder scene for stepping away briefly.

  • Preset: Starting soon — a placeholder scene shown before a stream begins.

  • New preset — create and save a custom scene preset.

Widgets

  • Draggable and resizable — widgets can be repositioned and resized directly on the stream canvas.

  • Insert own URL — add a custom browser-source widget by pasting any URL.

Audio

  • Controls — choose audio input (microphone) and output (speaker) devices and adjust volume.

  • Hiding — hide the audio controls panel from view.

Video

Feed — hide or show the camera feed. When hidden, the stream shows a placeholder in place of the camera.

Split video

  • Dual — show two video sources side by side.

  • Quad — show up to four video sources in a grid layout.

Setting up

Stream details — before going live, Streamers set the stream title, category, tags, language, stream quality, and mature content setting from the Stream Details panel.

Animated shoutout

Web Go Live includes animated on-screen shoutouts that trigger automatically:

  • Follower — an animated shoutout appears when someone follows the channel.

  • Subscriber — an animated shoutout appears when someone subscribes.

  • Gifted sub — an animated shoutout appears when someone receives a gifted subscription.
