What are the recommendations on KICK?
KICK’s recommender system is designed to help Viewers discover content they’ll love and to help Streamers connect with new audiences.
This page explains how our recommendation system works, what influences what Viewers see, and what Streamers should know about appearing in recommendations.
For Viewers: What You See and Why
If you are active on KICK, content will be recommended based on your viewing activity. The recommender system looks at patterns across the KICK community and makes recommendations to help you find new content and surface channels you haven't discovered before. The more you use KICK, the more refined the recommendations become.
Several sections of our homepage are now personalised specifically for you:
Home Page Carousel: rotating selection of streams featured on our homepage based on your activity, alongside manually selected streams by the KICK team.
Streams For You: streams we think you'll enjoy based on your activity on KICK.
Categories For You: content categories we think match your interests.
Recommended: channels listed on the left-hand side of your screen, selected based on what you watch.
If you haven't watched anything on KICK yet, or haven't been active for a while, we may not have enough information about your preferences and will be unable to serve personalised recommendations. In that case, the content shown in your homepage will be a mix of:
Globally popular channels
Content curated by the KICK team
Content in your preferred language depending on your region
Additionally, if you have customised your content preferences and chose to hide specific types of content, our recommender system will not recommend those streams to you.
For Streamers: How Your Channel Gets Recommended
Getting your channel in front of the right audience and connecting you with new Viewers matters to us. KICK's recommendation system works by looking at patterns in Viewer behaviour across the platform and recommending new channels that may appeal to Viewers with similar interests.
Our recommender system prioritises channels that show consistent growth in viewership and whose watch time is growing week on week. It also recommends active channels that have streamed at least once in the past seven days, and new channels that have streamed at least once in the past three days. Channels that have streamed more recently are more likely to be recommended. This ensures Viewers are directed to channels that are live or likely to go live soon.
