Why 1080p may not be available on your channel

KICK is introducing channel engagement tiers for unverified creators. As part of this, some channels now have a different set of livestream resolution options. This article explains what changed, who it affects, and how to get 1080p back.

What changed

We now sort unverified creators into two engagement tiers, based on viewership across their current and past streams:

  • Low engagement, an average of fewer than 5 concurrent viewers (CCV).

  • High engagement, an average of 5 or more CCV, but fewer than 75.

Channels in the low engagement tier are moved to a new channel type that offers every resolution except 1080p.

What this means for low engagement channels

If your channel is in the low engagement tier:

  • Your available resolutions are 720p60, 480p, 360p, 160p, and audio only (alongside Auto). 1080p is not offered.

  • You do not need to change anything in your streaming software. You can still stream in 1080p, but your channel won't display 1080p to viewers, and 1080p won't be stored on your VODs.

Most creators won't notice a difference. If you do, it's tied to your current engagement tier and changes as your channel grows.

How to get 1080p back

1080p is restored once your channel reaches the engagement threshold:

  • Reach an average of 5 concurrent viewers (CCV) across a rolling 30-day window.

  • Once you qualify, your channel is reconfigured to include 1080p again.

As you keep growing, the next milestone is a 75+ CCV average. Reaching it, along with meeting other requirements, puts you on the path to becoming a verified creator.

Do I need to do anything?

No. Keep streaming as you normally would. Resolution availability is managed automatically based on your engagement tier, so there are no settings for you to change.
