The KICK mobile app: a Viewer's guide

The KICK mobile app brings the full KICK experience to your phone or tablet. Whether you are watching streams on the go, joining chat from the bus, or catching up on VODs in bed, the app makes it easy to stay connected to your favourite Streamers wherever you are.

This guide walks you through downloading the app, getting set up, and making the most of it as a Viewer.

Downloading the app

The KICK app is available for free on both iOS and Android.

  • iPhone or iPad: Search for "KICK" in the App Store

  • Android: Search for "KICK" in the Google Play Store

After downloading, open the app and log in with your KICK account, or create a new one if you are new to KICK.

💡 If you are downloading the app for the first time, double-check it is the official KICK app to avoid any imitations. The official app is published by KICK directly.

What you can do in the app

The mobile app supports core viewing and chat features:

  • Watch live streams in HD

  • Send messages in chat and use Emotes

  • Follow Streamers and get notifications when they go live

  • Subscribe to channels (subscription management is done on kick.com — see below)

  • Send Gifts and KICKs

  • Watch VODs and Clips

  • Browse categories and discover new Streamers

What needs to be done on kick.com

Some actions are not available in the mobile app and must be done through your browser at kick.com:

  • Managing your subscriptions — cancelling, updating payment methods, or reviewing your active subscriptions

  • Adjusting your account settings — profile information, security settings, notification preferences, and other account controls

  • Setting your stream title and category (for Streamers using the app)

If you need to manage any of the above, log in to KICK in your browser on desktop or mobile.

Watching streams on mobile

To watch a stream:

  1. Open the KICK app

  2. Browse the homepage, search for a Streamer, or open a category

  3. Tap any live stream to start watching

You can switch between portrait and landscape mode for full-screen viewing. Most controls (like volume, quality, and chat) are accessible by tapping the screen during playback.

Adjusting stream quality

If your stream is buffering or using too much mobile data:

  1. Tap the stream to bring up controls

  2. Tap the settings icon (usually a gear)

  3. Choose a lower quality option

Lower quality uses less data and is more reliable on slower connections. Higher quality looks better but needs more bandwidth.

💡 If you are watching on mobile data and want to limit usage, we recommend watching at a lower quality or only on Wi-Fi.

Watching VODs on mobile

VODs (saved videos from past streams) are easy to watch on the app:

  1. Visit a Streamer's channel page

  2. Tap the Videos or VODs section

  3. Choose the VOD you want to watch

You can pause, skip ahead, and jump to specific timestamps just like a regular video.

For more on VODs, see KICK Stream Replays / VODs.

Watching Clips on mobile

Clips are short highlights from streams. To watch them:

  1. Open a Streamer's channel page

  2. Tap the Clips section

  3. Browse and tap any clip to watch

You can also discover clips through the homepage and recommended sections.

Using chat on mobile

Chat works on mobile much like it does on the web. To open chat while watching a stream:

  1. Tap the chat icon, usually below the stream player

  2. Type your message in the chat box at the bottom

  3. Tap send

You can use Emotes by tapping the Emote button in the chat box. For more on chat features, see How to use KICK chat as a Viewer.

💡 If chat is moving too fast on a busy stream, you can usually tap to pause auto-scrolling so you can read messages without them flying by.

Managing notifications

To stay up to date when your favourite Streamers go live, set up notifications:

  1. Visit a Streamer's channel

  2. Tap the bell or notification icon

  3. Choose what you want to be notified about (going live, new VODs, etc.)

Make sure push notifications are also enabled at the device level. For more, see Notifications not arriving on KICK.

Picture-in-picture mode

On supported devices, you can watch a KICK stream while doing something else by enabling picture-in-picture mode. The stream becomes a small floating window you can move around the screen.

To activate, tap the picture-in-picture icon during playback (if available on your device), or close the app while a stream is playing.

This feature is great for keeping a stream running while you check messages or browse other apps.

Saving your data

Streaming video uses a lot of data. To reduce your usage:

  • Watch over Wi-Fi when possible

  • Lower the stream quality on mobile data

  • Avoid watching for extended periods on cellular if you have a limited data plan

  • Check your phone's settings to monitor how much data the KICK app is using

Battery tips

Watching streams can drain your battery quickly. To extend battery life while watching:

  • Lower your screen brightness

  • Use Wi-Fi instead of mobile data

  • Turn on battery saver mode on your phone

  • Plug in to charge during longer viewing sessions

App not working?

If the KICK app is crashing, freezing, or not behaving correctly, see our troubleshooting guide: KICK mobile app crashes or keeps closing.

Mobile vs web: what is different?

The KICK app focuses on the viewing experience. A few things are only available on kick.com in your browser:

  • Account settings — profile, security, notifications, and other account controls

  • Subscription management — cancelling, changing payment methods, reviewing active subscriptions

  • Stream layouts — these may look slightly different on smaller screens

  • Some advanced features — only available on the web

If you cannot find a setting in the app, log in to kick.com in your browser. The app is designed for watching and engaging with content, not for managing your account.

What is unique to mobile:

  • Picture-in-picture mode — keep a stream playing while you use other apps

  • Push notifications — alerts on your phone when Streamers you follow go live
