Browser compatibility and recommended settings for KICK

KICK is designed to work on all major modern browsers. If something is not loading correctly, the issue is often related to your browser version, settings, or extensions. This guide covers what works best on KICK and how to fix common browser-related issues.

Recommended browsers

For the best KICK experience, we recommend using the latest version of:

  • Google Chrome

  • Mozilla Firefox

  • Microsoft Edge

  • Safari (on Mac and iOS)

These browsers are tested and supported. Other browsers may work, but we cannot guarantee full functionality.

💡 Whichever browser you use, make sure it is up to date. Outdated browsers are one of the most common causes of issues on KICK.

Why outdated browsers cause problems

KICK uses modern web technologies to deliver smooth livestreams, real-time chat, and interactive features. Older browsers may not support these features, which can cause:

  • Stream player not loading

  • Chat not connecting or appearing frozen

  • Login problems

  • Buttons or menus not working as expected

If your browser is more than a few versions out of date, update it through the browser's settings or download the latest version from the developer.

Clear your cache and cookies

Old cache files and cookies can cause unexpected behavior on KICK. If something stops working, clearing your cache often fixes it:

Chrome:

  1. Click the three-dot menu in the top right

  2. Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data

  3. Select Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data

  4. Click Clear data

Firefox:

  1. Click the menu button

  2. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security

  3. Under Cookies and Site Data, click Clear Data

Safari:

  1. Go to Safari > Settings > Privacy

  2. Click Manage Website Data

  3. Search for KICK and remove its data

After clearing, close and reopen your browser before logging back into KICK.

Disable problem extensions

Some browser extensions can interfere with KICK. The most common culprits are:

  • Ad blockers

  • Privacy and tracking blockers

  • Script blockers (like NoScript)

  • VPN extensions

  • Older or unmaintained extensions

To test if an extension is causing the issue:

  1. Open KICK in your browser's private or incognito mode (which usually disables extensions)

  2. If KICK works in private mode, an extension is likely the cause

  3. Re-enable extensions one at a time to find the one causing the issue

If an ad blocker is the cause, you can usually whitelist KICK without disabling the extension entirely.

Hardware acceleration

If video playback is choppy or the stream player will not load, your browser's hardware acceleration setting may be causing issues. Try toggling it:

Chrome:

  1. Go to Settings > System

  2. Toggle Use hardware acceleration when available

  3. Restart your browser

Firefox:

  1. Go to Settings > General > Performance

  2. Uncheck Use recommended performance settings

  3. Toggle Use hardware acceleration when available

  4. Restart your browser

If hardware acceleration is on, try turning it off. If it was off, try turning it on. Either change can resolve playback issues, depending on your hardware.

Mobile browser vs the KICK app

You can watch KICK on a mobile browser, but the KICK mobile app is designed for the best mobile experience. If you are running into issues on a mobile browser, try the app instead.

The app is available on the App Store and Google Play Store.

Safari-specific issues

Safari has stricter privacy controls than other browsers, which can occasionally cause issues with KICK. If you are using Safari and something is not working:

  • Make sure third-party cookies are enabled (Settings > Safari > Block All Cookies should be off)

  • Disable Cross-Site Tracking Prevention temporarily to test

  • Try opening KICK in a different browser to compare

If KICK works in Chrome or Firefox but not Safari, Safari's privacy settings are likely the cause.

Pop-up blockers

Some KICK features, like Stripe verification or third-party app connections, open pop-up windows. If your browser blocks pop-ups, these features may not work. Allow pop-ups for kick.com in your browser settings if you run into issues with these flows.
