Audio issues on your KICK stream

Audio problems are one of the most common issues new Streamers face. Whether your Viewers cannot hear you, your audio is out of sync, or your music has been muted, this guide covers the fixes for the most common audio issues on KICK.

My Viewers cannot hear me

If your Viewers say they cannot hear you but everything sounds fine on your end, your encoder is not picking up your microphone correctly.

In OBS or Streamlabs:

  1. Look at your audio mixer, usually at the bottom of the main window

  2. Find your microphone source. When you speak, the level meter should move

  3. If the meter does not move, your encoder is not receiving audio from your mic

Try these fixes:

  • Check that your microphone is selected as the audio input source in your encoder

  • Make sure your mic is not muted in your operating system's sound settings

  • Test your mic in another application like Discord or your system's voice recorder to confirm the mic itself is working

  • If you are using a USB microphone, try a different USB port

My audio is out of sync with my video

Audio and video can drift out of sync when one source has more processing delay than the other. This is fixable in your encoder.

In OBS:

  1. Right-click your audio source in the mixer

  2. Select Advanced Audio Properties

  3. Adjust the Sync Offset in milliseconds (positive numbers delay the audio, negative numbers move it forward)

  4. Test on a short stream and adjust until the audio and video match

A typical fix is somewhere between 100 and 400 ms of offset.

My audio settings are getting rejected by KICK

KICK only accepts audio at Stereo, 48kHz maximum. If your encoder is set higher than this, your stream will fail or sound distorted.

To fix this in OBS:

  1. Go to Settings > Audio

  2. Set Sample Rate to 48kHz

  3. Set Channels to Stereo

I want to control game audio and mic audio separately

This is useful if you want to mute your game without muting your voice, or vice versa. To do this, set up two separate audio sources in your encoder:

  • Source 1: Desktop audio (your game and system sounds)

  • Source 2: Microphone audio (your voice)

You can then control each source independently in your audio mixer.

For more advanced control, look into virtual audio cables like Voicemeeter on Windows or BlackHole on Mac.

I am getting echo or feedback

Echo and feedback usually mean your microphone is picking up your own audio output. To fix it:

  • Use headphones instead of speakers

  • Lower your speaker volume

  • Move your mic away from your speakers

  • Use noise suppression filters in your encoder. OBS has these built in
